It’s Spring and the Rattlesnakes are out in Tucson Arizona

This is the first Diamondback Rattlesnake I’ve seen this season. It was about 14″ long.

The markings are beautiful, especially the striped tail. Notice the rattle in the picture on the right. It appeared to have a puncture wound near the tail and part of the tail had been removed by it’s attacker.

If you walk on the warm street or pavement at night be sure to carry a flashlight. They like to get on the asphalt to warm themselves. They’re out, so be careful. For your sake, and theirs.
